Job Description Summary

The Behavior Technician (BT) provides direct one-on-one behavioral interventions to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. The BT works in a clinic setting under the supervision of a BCBA to implement individualized treatment plans and behavior programs. This role focuses on promoting skill acquisition, reducing challenging behaviors, and enhancing the overall quality of life for clients and their families.

Essential Functions

  • Provide one-on-one therapy to their assigned client, under the supervision of a BCBA.

  • Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols outlined by the BCBA.

  • Implement behavior intervention methods to increase desired behaviors and reduce undesired behaviors as outlined in the client schedule.

  • Implement behavior change programs such as shaping, prompting, differential reinforcement, and error correction procedures to support the learning and development of their assigned client.

  • Receive initial and ongoing training on Autism, ABA, and behavior intervention methods.

  • Conduct daily data recording and graphing as outlined by their manager.

  • Receive supervision and feedback by their manager to ensure quality implementation of the client’s ABA programming.

  • Write objective session notes for service verification by describing what occurred during the sessions, in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory, and Behavioral Framework’s requirements.

  • Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with client’s individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.

  • Effectively communicate and interact with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.

  • Effectively communicate and interact with their BCBA.

  • Follow company specific procedures for client safety and handling.

  • Comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and company's data collection, storage, transportation, and documentation requirements.

  • Maintain client dignity, and confidentiality, and adhere to HIPAA laws.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • High school diploma.

  • RBT certification in good standing is preferred.

  • Knowledge of ABA, human behavior, and performance.

  • Knowledge of industry terminology.

Work Environment, Physical Conditions

  • Able to comply with practice policies and procedures and the ethical guidelines of RBTs.

  • Must have a mobile device (such as a smartphone or tablet) to bring to work.

  • Must be able to perform a variety of physical and often repetitive activities including (but not limited to) standing and sitting for long periods of time, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

  • Must exhibit satisfactory manual dexterity, auditory, and visual skills.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to or more than 100lbs.
