Minimum Qualifications and Requirements of Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA):
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Master's Degree.
  • State of NH Teacher Certification in General Special Education (1900) or other approved certification status is preferred
  • BCBA certification
Specific Core Function of Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA):

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides behavior analytic services to support special education staff and general education teachers in the provision of behavioral supports and services. These supports and services are designed to assist students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/or other behavioral disorders in the least restrictive environment. The BCBA conducts observations and assessments with subsequent reports or plans that conform to IDEA.

Responsibilities of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA):
  • Collaborate with district staff in the development, implementation and assessment of behavior plans and any instructional programs for students with ASD or other disabilities that present behavior or learning challenges.
  • Provide resources and provide training to specific administrators, educators and paraprofessionals in Applied Behavior Analysis as related to addressing needs of specific students
  • Train, coach and supervise support staff working with behaviorally challenging students
  • Attend Planning and Placement Team Meetings as needed
  • Analyze data, and prepare reports for the purposes of assessing or monitoring behavior
  • Assist in development and implementation of appropriate programming and interventions to increase appropriate student behavior and academic skills
  • Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments to inform the development of individualized Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Conduct evaluations for purposes of identification or reevaluation of special education services in conjunction with other evaluations
Other Considerations and Requirements of Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA):
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development
  • Awareness of NH Special Education Rules and Regulations
  • Knowledge of evidence based interventions
  • Ability to collaborate with professionals, parents, community
  • Knowledge of testing instruments and their application to behavioral assessments acceptable
  • Minimum 3 years experience; preferably in a school setting

Specified Length/Hours of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA):
This is an affiliated (MEA) position under the Teacher Association negotiated contract, following the school calendar with additional workshop days.
