Requirements:
- Master’s Degree of Social Work or Clinical Mental Health Counseling
- NYS professional licensure: LMHC/LCSW or equivalent
- Valid Driver's license
Position Summary
Clinicians in this program will be working closely with children, families, and individuals with a multi-disciplinary team approach. Clinicians should have a genuine desire to act as an advocate to support clients, foster their capacity for growth and help clients develop coping mechanisms in order to improve their lives. The Clinician will be providing therapy, skill building, and psychoeducational support to individuals and families in crisis in order to help align their behaviors and goals.
Responsibilities
- Specialized training in working with Children and Families
- Ability to implement principles of person-centered planning, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, cultural humility using a restorative practice approach.
- Taking a lead role in providing services to clients/families such as:
- Risk Assessment
- Substance Abuse Screen/Assessment
- Suicide Assessment
- Mental Health needs assessment
- Comprehensive Psychosocial Assessment to include diagnosis and needs to develop a treatment plan.
- Close collaboration with collateral providers involved in the lives of the youth and family.
- Opportunities to provide holistic care to the youth and family system via individual, group, and family counseling modalities.
- Provide therapeutic intervention on an ongoing basis with clients.
- Maintain a caseload of clients, complying with all state/federal regulations regarding documentation and billing.
- Collaboration and coordination of treatment with other service providers in the community as well as the team at Wait House.

We accomplish this through the immediate provision of coordinated services; reunification of families where appropriate; the provision of supervised emergency and transitional housing; with the goal of personal responsibility and self-sufficiency.
