Collaborating Psychiatrist

Job description

We are looking for a Collaborating Psychiatrist to oversee and work with 1-5 PMHNP-BC. The role of the collaborative physician is to review the patient’s medical records on a regular schedule to ensure the patients receive the care and treatment they need. The review may occur weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. To be considered for this role, you need to be licensed and working as a Psychiatrist, as well as certified from the American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS). The minimum qualifications for a collaborative physician include being a practicing physician in good standing and having admitting privileges to a hospital in your area. You need federal DEA, Active Virginia state medical license, and Controlled and Dangerous Substances licenses. All of these licenses must be free of sanctions.

Responsibilities

• continuous availability to each other for supervision, consultation, collaboration, and evaluation of the medical acts

• Review patient cases with consulting NP
• Answering questions, chart review, making medical diagnoses, ordering diagnostic tests, and prescribing medications
• ongoing review of care provided in each practice site, including a written plan for evaluating the quality of care provided for one or more frequently encountered clinical problems every 6 months

• Identify mental disorders and determine best treatments
• Develop therapy plans
• Analyze medical tests and track patients’ progress
• Research medical issues and new medical treatments to update your knowledge on mental healthcare

Skills

• Work experience as a Psychiatrist
• In-depth knowledge of various psychotherapeutic methods
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong observation skills to accurately evaluate patients’ demeanor and identify symptoms
• Thoughtful and compassionate
• Certification from the American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS)
• Residency program in Psychiatry

Job Types: Contract, Part-time

Pay: $250.00 - $500.00 per month
