This position provides excellent customer service and social work services to the public, helps create a welcoming library environment, provides assistance to individuals needing social service resources, serves as a resource for library employees and other City departments, establishes partnerships with community organizations to strengthen resource connections, and performs various other duties as assigned.
This position may require scheduling at any library facility as well as off-site locations during days, nights, and weekends.

We offer a comprehensive benefit package. The cost for a family plan for medical, dental, vision and prescription is only $98.61 per month for 2025 and starts on first day of employment.
Starting Pay: $25.68/hr After 6 Months: $26.33/hr

Examples Of Duties
- Creates a welcoming environment by providing excellent customer service and maintaining the appearance of public areas.
- Demonstrates commitment to The Library’s mission and vision by actively promoting services and resources.
- Communicates effectively with colleagues, patrons, stakeholders, and the community by responding to queries in a timely manner.
- Prepares and implements library programming for all ages and diverse backgrounds based on the social service needs of the community.
- Identifies and interacts with individuals who may benefit from social service resources through providing information, support, and referrals to appropriate organizations.
- Collaborates with the Quad Cities Open Network hub to coordinate resource referrals.
- Provides consultation, training, and resources to library employees on issues related to the social service needs of patrons.
- Models to colleagues how to effectively interact with patrons experiencing life challenges.
- Helps with library outreach in the community as appropriate to promote social work services.
- Prepares reports on services provided, including statistics, outcomes, and service impacts.
- Develops partnerships and relationships with other City departments and area organizations.
- Provides information to marketing to promote community resources.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field from a college or university and professional experience working with diverse populations. Knowledge of community resources preferred but not required. Must maintain Social Worker licensure throughout employment, if applicable.
