Description
Under minimal supervision, responsible for providing general nursing care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or team leader. May lead or mentor lower level team members.
Responsibilities
- Triages and manages patient messages and calls to assist providers in assessing and caring for patients; manages the scheduling of patient appointments.
- Prepares patient for examination, sets up and maintains sterile field, and assists clinical staff with examinations and clinical care, and documents.
- Performs Point of Care Testing (POCT), documents and reports clinical findings to Registered Nurse (RN) in charge and/or PCP.
- Assists providers with procedures, performs patient discharges and verifies communication of instructions with patient and family.
- Maintains assigned work area with supplies and equipment, cleans, stocks and maintains exam rooms, procedure rooms, instruments and equipment; transports patients safely.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates the ability to function within the required nursing process as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
- Demonstrates the ability to support the mission, vision and patient promise throughout all interactions.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, written and verbally.
- Demonstrates analytical thinking; this role requires analyzing information and using logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates the ability to participate as an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient.
EDUCATION:
- High school or GED and graduation from an approved vocational nursing school is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years of vocational nursing experience is required.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
- Current Texas Nursing license required, CPR is required.
