The Mental Health Clinician provides individual and/or group counseling services to students. Provides consultation to staff and families regarding student issues. Provides psycho social evaluations of student/families on referral basis. ___________________________________________________________________________________ PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List key areas of responsibility, major job duties and key objectives for this position) ••Support the social-emotional and mental health needs of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities across school and residential settings. •Provides individual counseling services to students on a referral basis, according to need and appropriateness •Provides group counseling services to students on a referral basis. This may be based upon appropriate residential living units or classroom units •Meets with families or parents/guardians of students in treatment on an ongoing or intermittent basis as appropriate and necessary. May provide consultation to families of students. •Provides evaluations of students referred for counseling, risk assessments, and safety plans as needed •Assists in developing behavior support plans for students receiving clinical services •Assists in the development and implementation of health and wellness curriculum, staff training initiatives, and other programmatic needs as assigned •Provides consultation to and collaborates with instructional and residential staff •Attends appropriate team and student meetings as assigned (e.g., IEPs, Progress Review, Case Consultation, and weekly department meeting) •Liaise with consulting psychiatric nurse practitioner related to student medication management •Provides documentation and reports related to student needs, progress, and goals as appropriate •Maintains some scheduling flexibility to include variable evening/weekend hours •Participates in an on-call rotation to provide consultative support during residential hours •Supports students in the moment during periods of dysregulation as needed •Intervenes physically in behaviorally aggressive situations using Safety Care techniques •Upholds the mission and corporate values of St. Coletta and Cardinal Cushing Schools of Massachusetts •Regular attendance and promptly reporting to work at the beginning of the scheduled shift are essential functions of this position •Assists families with guardianship process and completion of clinical team report •Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned
Job Requirements
A minimum of two years' direct service experience in a clinical setting Formal Education Master's degree in a clinical discipline, (social work, psychology, counseling) with supervised field experience; appropriate clinical license preferred Will consider candidates with LCSW or LICSW A valid driver's license
