Mental Health Counselor/LPC position: (Part-time)
Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 27 hours per week
The mission of SLEW Cancer Wellness Center is to improve the emotional and physical health of uninsured, under-insured, and low-income women who are survivors of cancer or who are undergoing cancer treatments by offering programs at no cost to clients to promote a better quality of life and long-term survival.
Job Summary:
The counselor will be responsible for individual, family, and group therapy. Will conduct assessments and is responsible for the development and implementation of therapeutic treatment plans. The counselor is directly supervised by the Program Director or Executive Director. Maintains necessary client records, and provides liaison with referral sources and providers. The counselor will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team along with a patient navigator and a case manager.
Job Functions:
Conduct intake interviews and assess client’s mental health
Prepare goal-oriented treatment plans, service plans, and progress reports
Facilitate client group discussions on specific issues
Provide case consultations and/or crisis interventions
Maintain confidentiality in all areas of client and program operations
Maintain professional and ethical standards as prescribed by SLEW Cancer Wellness Center
Role model a professional demeanor at all times
Comply with the agency and program policy and procedure manual
Comply with all Licensing standards as well as funding source guidelines
Participate in all required professional training, workshops and or continuing education
Conduct/coordinate client assessments and recommendations for client permanency plan
Conduct individual, small group, and large group counseling sessions with clients
Maintain communication with social services team on a consistent basis
Develop and implement client tracking and status reports for monthly review/audit
Education and Experience Requirements
Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling or in a related field.
Certification and/or License Required LPC, or LCSW
Two or more years of relevant experience with population serving the chronically ill
Requirements:
Must be bilingual
Computer literacy
Ability to work independently
Must possess a valid driver’s license, current driver’s insurance and have an excellent driving record
Must be flexible and able to multi-task
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English language required.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills, as well as organizational and planning skills
Possess sensitivity to the service population cultural and socio-economic characteristic.
