How You Will Fulfill Your Potential

Responsibilities:


Operational Management:


  • Manage the clinical and environmental operations of the unit or service line
  • Execute action items in the strategic and operational departmental plans in collaboration with the Service Line Administrator
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate systems to support quality and safe patient care
  • Develop master scheduling patterns, while managing requests for time off based on guidelines and unit needs
  • Make staffing decisions and facilitate the delivery of care in the event of staff absence
  • Review patient surveys and feedback and creates action plans to address patient satisfaction issues
  • Manage charges related to outpatient services, including charge discrepancies, CCI edits, and charge review
  • Serve as a clinical resource for appeals and denials
  • Review/update of Charge Master
  • Monitor and reports required volume data


Management, Leadership, and Development of Staff:


  • Demonstrate principles of evidence-based leadership
  • Manage all aspects of the staff to include hiring, supervising, counseling, professional development, discipline, and competency/performance evaluation, including clinical evaluations of nursing staff with matrix relationships
  • Coordinate the orientation process of new staff in collaboration with the educator/CNS
  • Develop staff and facilitates learning opportunities that meet staff and unit/service line needs in collaboration with the Service Line Administrator
  • Serve as a clinical resource and acts as a role model and mentor
  • Develop the agenda and conduct monthly staff meetings
  • Provide clinical oversight for all unit/service line nursing staff


Other Management Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of the annual budget
  • Develop and implement action plans in response to variances
  • Responsible for the coordination of performance improvement initiatives for the unit/service line, in conjunction with the unit/service line strategic plan, to meet operational goals
  • Initiate investigations/reviews, and create action plans in response to incidents as well as patient and customer concerns
  • Communicate significant information to Key stake holders and Staff in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Actively participate in Cancer Committee and serve as a nursing representative
  • Assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs
  • Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate policies, procedures, protocols, standards of care, practice, and performance
  • Contribute to the efficiency and professional environment of the unit/service line through support of objectives and strategic initiatives, participation in unit/Nursing Services activities, meetings, continued education programs and quality improvements initiatives
  • Provide clinical expertise and leadership in the development, implementation, and advancement of an integrated medical record throughout the unit/service line
  • Maintain clinical expertise by active networking, or with membership with professional and/or specialty organizations, and continuing education
  • Represent the unit/service line and Glens Falls Hospital through active participation in professional and specialty nursing organizations specific to the unit/service line.


Qualifications


Qualifications/Experience

Education/Accredited Programs

  • Graduation from a Registered Professional Nursing program required
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Master’s degree in nursing or related field preferred

Experience/Skills/Abilities

  • 3 years relevant clinical experience required (5 Years preferred)
  • Previous nursing management experience preferred
  • High emotional intelligence required
  • Basic understanding of principles of performance improvement and use of data to improve outcomes
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and DNV requirements
  • Ability to provide feedback and have crucial conversations
  • Ability to organize work, delegate effectively, and to assign, direct and evaluate the work of other employees
  • Proficient clinician in ICU
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, E-mail, unit/service line/department specific applications


Licenses/Certificates/Registrations:

  • Current Registered Nursing license in the state of New York required
  • Certification in nursing leadership preferred; required within 2 years of eligibility
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certifications if required for service

Salary Range

The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $43.65 to $64.63 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
