Summary:
The Supportive Oncology Social Worker - Level 2 is a key member of the Rush University Medical Center community. This social worker provides outpatient social work services to oncology patients and families engaged with Rush University Medical Center's Cancer Center. This social worker provides relevant clinical social work services to address the complex psychosocial needs of the aforementioned population. In addition to providing social work services, this social worker also leverages their experience to support providers and colleagues as needed. This position is part of the Supportive Oncology team, a multidisciplinary team supporting the Rush Cancer Center, and the social worker works in collaboration with other healthcare team members to meet patients' psychosocial needs. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Provides social work services to outpatient adult oncology patients, families, and caregivers engaged with RUSH MD Anderson Cancer Center's Oak Park & Lisle locations.
- Manage a caseload of Rush Oak Park and Lisle oncology patients who have been referred for social work services by Rush providers, and manage the distress screening workqueue for Rush Oak Park and Lisle oncology patients.
- Addresses the psychosocial needs of Rush oncology patients who have been referred for social work services.
- Works directly with patients and their families to address complex issues that arise from unmet needs and provide the necessary social work services to help them achieve their care goals.
- Conducts assessments in order to identify patients' psychosocial needs.
- Develops a psychosocial plan of care and facilitate clinical interventions to meet patients' needs.
- Connects patients and their families to relevant resources, both at Rush and in the community, to address their needs.
- Problem-solves with patients, their health care team, and other providers as needed regarding psychosocial needs and care coordination.
- Documents all patient interactions in Epic electronic health records system.
- Provides on-call availability during Monday-Friday business hours as needed to support patients and providers. Provides crisis intervention and conduct safety assessments when needed.
- Collaborates and consults with community partners as appropriate to support the needs of this patient population.
- Maintains relationships with referring Rush providers through consistent and timely communication, and collaborates with providers and teammates as needed to meet patient needs.
- Maintains social work licensure through attendance at professional development trainings, and engage in oncology-specific trainings as able.
- Promotes the Rush Supportive Oncology program and refer patients to department services as appropriate.
- Leverages experience to support team members in case consultation, training, crisis management, etc. as needed.
- Represents the social work team and the Supportive Oncology department at meetings, conferences, or other public engagements on an as-needed basis.

Required Job Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in State of Illinois.
- At least 4 years' post-graduate professional experience in healthcare, care management, mental health and/or social services.
- Clinical experience working with adult populations.
- Experience providing evidenced-based clinical interventions.
- Strong written, verbal, and analytical communication skills.
- Strong active listening, critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Familiarity with electronic medical records.
- Experience with high risk and/or complex populations.
- Experience providing crisis assessment and intervention.
- Experience providing clinical supervision.
- Knowledge of community resources and clinical expertise related to psychosocial issues, care management, and crisis management.
- Professional qualities such as initiative, self-reflection, commitment, responsiveness, and adaptability.
- Strong written, verbal, and analytical communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Strong planning and implementation skills, including problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
