Position Summary

The Psychotherapist works in the Residential Treatment Center with residents and their families to help them cope with a range of psychiatric, psychological and emotional problems. The Psychotherapists uses individualized treatment plans and a variety of non-medical-based treatments to address thought processes, feelings and behavior, understanding inner conflicts, and find new ways to deal with, and alleviate, distress.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Conducts a series of sessions with the child and family on a weekly basis, to assess need, explore issues and build trust;
  • Encourages the child to talk about and explore his/her feelings and behavior and what changes can be made;
  • Evaluates therapy outcomes and writes reports
  • Monitors treatment plans and modifies them when needed
  • Work with staff in providing suggestions for therapeutic interventions with the clients
  • Utilize evidence-based models (e.g. TF-CBT, CBT+)
  • Participate in evidence-based practice trainings and consultation calls as needed

Qualifications:

  • LCSW/LMHC/LMSW (clinical hours available)
  • Experience with evidence-based models (e.g. TF-CBT, CBT+) preferred
  • At least two years of experience with children and families is preferred
  • Ability to establish effective working relationship with supervisors, workers, clerical staff as well as with youth and families
  • Ability to work collaboratively with an Interdisciplinary Treatment team
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate and comprehensive case reports
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


Shifts:

  • Full time and On call positions available
  • Multiple sites (Brooklyn, Long Island atc)
